Chicago Fire Brigade fire engine rental is a family business that began as a hobby. When the southwest Chicago suburb of Forest View was retiring its 1961 Mack C95 "Engine 812" from service, two brothers who work for the village part-time couldn't resist buying the beautiful and unique apparatus at auction. After years of simply "having fun" at their annual block party, they started getting more and more requests for many types of events all over Chicago and the suburbs. A second, newer engine – a 1973 Mack C95 - was purchased, and the original 812 retired. The new engine, renamed "Engine 12" after their late-mother's birth month of December, originally served in a volunteer fire department in Clinton IN - hence the remarkably low mileage and excellent condition. With help from their firefighter friends, it was outfitted with proper seating for passenger safety, and the best components of 812 including the unique "crazy eight" light and the deck water-gun, were installed. The powerful motor from old 812 currently lives on in a farm tractor southwest of Plainfield IL, where we hear its gaining legendary status.
